ODM Attempts to Draw Attention to Robert Fico's Wealth

Bratislava, March 12 (TASR) - With a symbolic house-warming at an apartment in Bratislava's Ruzinov district, the Civic Democratic Youth (ODM) wanted to draw attention to the wealth of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Friday.

"We've symbolically come out here, in front of this new building, built by the company Ikores ... as it was from this company in particular that the Fico brothers (premier Robert and elder brother Ladislav) purchased the apartment for their mother," ODM Chairman Jan Buckuliak said at the event. He also called on the premier to disclose the origin of his "luxurious life".

"This Coalition has attempted to profile itself as a socially-oriented and patriotic. Unfortunately, as we can see, all of that has been just an act," claimed Buckuliak. He also emphasised that the young democrats are asking these questions on behalf of people. Symbolically, they gave Fico a gift at the event - a plush mole and a helmet.

According to the Government Office's press department, Friday's ODM action shows that with the parliamentary election drawing near, the attacks on Slovak Premier Robert Fico are intensifying in numbers if not in meaningfulness. "Premier Fico doesn't own - not even allegedly - any apartment on Pazitkova Street in Bratislava," reacted the Government Office in a written statement, adding that the Premier annually files a property declaration.

Fico, along with his wife Svetlana, owns a three-room apartment in the Dlhe Diely district in Bratislava, a recreational cabin in Male Levare (Bratislava region) and an eight-are vineyard in Bratislava's Raca district. "Robert Fico acquired this property at a time when he wasn't the Slovak Premier and therefore had no influence on the state executive," according to Government Office.
