Bratislava, March 11 (TASR) - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), one of the country's private business representatives, called on the Government on Thursday to secure a good business environment in Slovakia so the country can remain viable in the future.
Chamber officials, led by the institution's chairman since its inception 18 years ago Peter Mihok, met with Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek and Premier Robert Fico to discuss the nation's macroeconomic and social policies, business environment as well as enforceability of the law and related arbitration bodies.
Jahnatek described the business environment as favourable especially for foreign investors. He noted that the Government is holding back on the payroll tax increases in order to lure in foreign investors. But he too noted that the government cannot afford to cut taxes either because it would cause shortfalls which would have trouble making up.
During the event, SOPK, too, have spoken out for less paperwork and red tape associated with business activities.
