Salaries Rose Most in IT and Communications in January

Bratislava, March 10 (TASR) - Nominal monthly salaries in Slovakia in January grew fastest in information and communications, and fell most sharply in transport, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.
According to data for January, nominal monthly salaries rose by 6.1 percent to €1,530 in information and communications. Other increases were: in industry - by 5.6 percent to €757, in restaurants and pubs - 5.1 percent to €358, in selected market services - 4.9 percent to €743, in accommodation - 3.5 percent to €546, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles - 2.6 percent to €693, in retail - 1.5 percent to €522, and in wholesale - 1.2 percent to €705.
Nominal salaries fell in transport - by 1.3 percent to €691, and in warehousing - 0.6 percent to €526.
Real salaries in January rose by 5.7 percent in information and communications activities. Other real salary increases were: in industry - 5.2 percent, in restaurants and pubs - 4.7 percent, in selected market services - 4.5 percent, in accommodation - 3.1 percent, in the sale and repair of motor vehicles - 2.2 percent, in retail - 1.1 percent, and in wholesale - 0.8 percent.
Real salaries fell in transport - by 1.7 percent, and in warehousing - 1 percent.
