Parliament Elects Six Out of 11 SPF Board Members

Bratislava, March 9 (TASR) - Parliament on Tuesday elected the first six new members of the Slovak Land Fund (SPF) board who had been nominated by Cabinet, TASR learnt on the same day.

Jozef Lalo, Jozef Kubinec, Viliam Hoferica, Anton Martvon, Jan Tucek and Maria Fridrichova became SPF board members in a non-secret vote.

The remaining five members of the 11-strong board are elected in a secret vote by Parliament following proposals made by political parties. The vote is set to take place later on Tuesday.

Three of the five are coalition nominees, while two candidates have been brought forward by the Opposition. Parliament has to approve all nominations before the board members are appointed.

All the former board members were dismissed last year over scandalous land transfers in the High Tatra mountains.
