Fico: You Should Ask Gyurovszky About Apollo Rental Contract

Bratislava, March 4 (TASR) - Journalists should address their questions about the Construction and Regional Development Ministry's rental contract with Bratislava's Apollo Business Centre to former minister Laszlo Gyurovszky (SMK), Prime Minister Robert Fico said after carrying out an inspection at the ministry on Thursday.
If there is a complicated rental contract, you should ask Gyurovszky why he signed an irrevocable lease, said Fico with respect to the ministry headquarters at the Centre.
The ministry recently announced that it wouldn't pay rent for the headquarters between 2011-15, as it is set to merge with the Economy Ministry as of July 1 and will therefore cease to exist as a legal entity. On Wednesday, however, Construction Minister Igor Stefanov announced that the state will pay the rent nevertheless. Gyurovszky said that he doesn't remember whether it is possible to terminate the contract.
"Merging ministries is a complicated and serious matter, and one lease that was signed by representatives of SMK in the past won't change anything about this," said Fico, adding that the reduction of the number of ministries from 14 to 12 will bring considerable savings.
Stefanov reiterated that the "contract was prepared in such a way that it wouldn't be revocable by a simple decision". He added that the ministry's lawyers are currently working on the matter.
