Bratislava, March 3 (TASR) - As of April, vandalism and crude behaviour at sports venues will be dealt with by the so-called mobile courts that are being introduced by the amendment to the Criminal Code passed in Parliament on Wednesday.
"Scope has been created for decent fans to enjoy sports matches in a decent atmosphere," explained Katarina Tothova (LS-HZDS) who proposed the legislation. "That's why we've included it in the Criminal Code - that if it's appropriate and purposeful, the court proceeding can take place right there and then," said Tothova, specifying that the legislation is designed to deal with misdemeanours.
She added that fast-tracked investigations will be part and parcel of the initiative. However, these provisions cannot be applied if the case is serious enough that mandatory legal defence is prescribed.
