Bratislava, March 3 (TASR) - The Education Ministry won't provide any funding to schools around the country in relation to the application of the newly-adopted Patriot Act, said Education Minister Jan Mikolaj (nationalist SNS nominee) on Wednesday, adding that schools are to face no sanctions for not obeying the law.
According to Mikolaj, no high costs are expected within schools' economies vis-a-vis the use of the state symbols, the lyrics of the national anthem, and the Constitution's preamble. Also, Mikolaj doesn't see the anthem's playback as a technical problem, and the ministry is not preparing any special set of instructions in this matter.
"It's up to schools as to how to handle the anthem's playback, it's no big problem these days. Some of them have their squawk box, some don't - in terms of organisation, it's all up to them," said Mikolaj. "The essence and the spirit of this law lies somewhere else, it's about something completely different, not about technologies to be used," explained the minister.
As for the absence of sanctions in the law, Mikolaj said this was intentional. "There's no sanctions, but schools must handle the applications of what is in the law," said the minister.
