KDS Announces It Won't Run in General Election

Bratislava, March 1 (TASR) - The extra-parliamentary Conservative Democrats of Slovakia (KDS) won't run in the general election due in June, KDS spokesperson Maria Majdova told TASR on Monday.

"We've decided not to seek voters' support in the election in June, primarily because of the party's financial situation," said party leader Vladimir Palko.

According to Palko, the party would be left with almost no funds for its campaign if it paid the election deposit amounting to €16,600. "It wouldn't be fair to the voters to stand without a proper campaign," he said.

The party was set up in 2008 by four MPs who had left the Christian Democrats (KDH) - Palko, Frantisek Miklosko, Pavol Minarik and Rudolf Bauer.
