Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) - Trust in the Slovak economy has been improving for the ninth month in a row, with the Index of Economic Sentiment (IES) increasing by 10.6 percentage points to 87.1 in February, which is still lower by 11.3 points compared to the long-term average, however, the Statistic Office reported on Friday.
According to stats data, consumers' trust in terms of expected economic development, unemployment and overall financial situation of households grew, but dropped when it comes to estimated savings.
Optimism was expressed vis-a-vis industry, which has been influenced especially by expected growth of the industrial production over the next three months and growing demand for industrial products. The indicator of trust in the construction industry followed suit, with growth of demand for products and rising employment in this sphere foreseen as well.
Conversely, retailers were more pessimistic in February when expressing views on development of the economic situation for the next three months. They still assessed the current economic development positively, however.
Companies doing business in the field of services perceived the current economic situation, as well as the expected demand, in negative terms.
