Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) - Slovakia has maintained its cachet for investors only thanks to its highly-qualified workforce, Economy Minister said on the sidelines of the ceremonial presentation of 2009 Golden Biatec laureates in Bratislava on Friday.
In this respect, Jahnatek pointed to the recently signed memorandum between the Economy Ministry and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) focusing on current needs in dealing with individual problems in the spheres of energy, and heat and gas supplies.
Turning to Opposition allegations about the worsening entrepreneurial environment in Slovakia, Jahnatek said that the opposite is true. Jahnatek cited the arrivals of new investors, most notably AU Optronics with its planned facility near Trencin, to disprove the Opposition assertion.
Jahnatek also said that Slovakia joined the activities of the European Union in its attempts to decrease the administrative burdening of enterprises under 25 percent.
As recently as in September, Slovakia was the only EU-member country with only 1 percent of foreign investors considering leaving the country in the wake of the global economic crisis, said the economy minister, noting that the EU average stood at 5 percent.
Golden Biatec is an award of the Informal Economic Forum - Economic Club and is granted to individuals for extraordinary contributions to Slovakia's prestige since 1993.
