Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) - Thanks to its foreign policy, Slovakia is internationally viewed as a reliable and predictable country, known for keeping its word, said Prime Minister Robert Fico following his screening visit at the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Friday.
The premier noted that both nominations of ministers during the ongoing election term - the former Jan Kubis and the current Miroslav Lajcak - have proven to be good choices. Fico described them as reputable diplomats with experience in various important posts in international institutions, and said that this contributed to Slovakia's credibility. The premier also said he would be happy to see Lajcak continue as minister after the June 12 election.
Fico highlighted that the ministry led by Lajcak is one of those that have managed to do all that they pledged to do in the Government Manifesto. In particular, Fico appreciated the shift in Slovakia's foreign policy orientation - not only towards those countries who are members of EU and NATO, but also others that Slovakia wants to get along well with.
