Two Convicts Escape This Week and Remain On The Lam

Bratislava, February 26 (TASR) - Two prisoners have escaped in Slovakia recently - one in Bratislava and the other in Leopoldov (Trnava region), Justice Ministry spokesman Michal Jurci told TASR on Friday.

A man was supposed to have been doing the cleaning at the Justice Palace in Bratislava at an unguarded workplace, but fled. The fugitive is not armed, assured Jurci.

A similar case took place on Tuesday in Leoplodov prison, where a 37-year-old convict sentenced for tax fraud fled from an unguarded workplace, where he worked as a cook.

According to data of the Justice Ministry and the Justice and Prison Guard Department, there are about 8,300 prisoners in Slovakia, and no cases of prison breaks have been registered in recent years.
