Pociatek: No Final Stance by Slovakia vis-a-vis Assistance to Greece

Bratislava, February 25 (TASR) - Slovakia still hasn't adopted a final decision on the extent of solidarity it will show with respect to assistance to bankrupt-threatened Greece, Finance Minister Jan Pociatek said after the Government session on Thursday.

"No clear conclusion on how Slovakia will deal with it (the assistance) was adopted ... nor has it been clear what form of assistance, if any, will be provided by the EU or the eurozone (which has 16 members)," said Pociatek.

The debate on the assistance to Greece is "very intense", according to Pociatek. "I expect that we'll make a significant progress at the Ecofin session in March," said the finance minister.

Premier Robert Fico said after an EU summit earlier in February that the Union has agreed on joint action. "What matters is that the EU showed clear solidarity in that it's ready to undertake the necessary measures to preserve stability in eurozone countries," said Fico.
