UNAS Tells at Demonstration at SNP It Will Not Tone Down Protests

Bratislava, February 25 (TASR) - The Union of Slovak Road Hauliers (UNAS) doesn't intend to back off from its protest alert, UNAS organisation committee member Jaroslav Polacek said at the anti-government gathering 'We Like This Country' in Bratislava Thursday evening.

"We won't cease nor moderate our actions. Morning is very important for us, as we still don't know what will happen at the Transport Ministry," said Polacek at the rally at SNP Square attended by around 200 people. He explained that the Union asked the ministry to admit it to Friday's talks with registered haulier associations, road toll provider SkyToll and the National Highway Company (NDS).

A spokesman for the Transport Ministry told TASR that minister Lubomir Vazny may meet representatives of UNAS, but not those within the aforementioned work group.

The spokesman indicated earlier this week that the road-toll system may be re-launched in full on Monday, March 1.
