Bratislava, November 26 (TASR) - The Slovak Post Office will lose its monopoly on the sale of payment stamps as of December, according to the Payment Services Act signed by President Ivan Gasparovic on Thursday.
The bill, which was drawn up by governing-coalition Smer-SD MP Michal Luksa, re-introduces the state of affairs that existed before August 2008, when the current law came into force.
According to the new act, the Finance Ministry, the Post Office and individual offices will be obliged to ensure that payment stamps are on sale at facilities where they are used.
An identical legislative proposal to that of Luksa was submitted at the same parliamentary session by opposition SDKU-DS MP Jozef Mikus, but this was rejected by the House.
