Kia: More Than 200,000 Cars to Be Produced in Teplicka this Year

Bratislava, February 24 (TASR) - Kia Motors Slovakia intends to produce around 210,000 cars at its facility in Teplicka nad Vahom near Zilina this year, of which the new model Hyundai ix35 will make up between 70,000-100,000, Kia Motors Slovakia president In-Kyu Bae said in Bratislava on Wednesday on the occasion of introducing the new model.
According to In-Kyu Bae, Hyundai ix35 has been the first model of Kia's sister company Hyundai being manufactured in Slovakia. The production of the model begun on January 15 and, up to date, 5,800 cars come off the assembly line at Teplicka nad Vahom.
Hyundai ix35 is a compact off-road, through which Hyundai hopes to gain a 5-percent share on the Slovak market. This means that it would have to sell at least 4,000 cars this year. The share of Hyundai – the major shareholder in Kia – on the global car market represents 6.7 percent.
