Janis: Road-Toll System Involves Security Threat to Hauliers

Bratislava, February 23 (TASR) - The recently-introduced electronic road-toll system has serious shortcomings that could threaten people's privacy, said SDKU-DS MP Stanislav Janis at a press conference on Tuesday.

"Business data on hauliers may be processed for advantage," he stressed, adding that "information about hauliers isn't securely protected from abuse".

The National Highway Company (NDS) confirmed that there are shortcomings in the road-toll security system in its conditional certificate vis-a-vis the full completion of the road-toll test in December.

The data is managed by a private company - road-toll provider SkyToll, which was supposed to prepare a security project but hasn't done so as yet, claimed Janis. "If it (such a project) exists, however, let them publish it on the internet," he said, adding that the project should have been assessed by experts.
