Petrikova and Azerbaijani Counterpart Praise Bilateral Relations

Bratislava, February 23 (TASR) - Relations between Slovakia and Azerbaijan in the sphere of justice are at a good level, which is attested to by a memorandum on mutual co-operation that the two countries signed in 2009, Slovak Justice Minister Viera Petrikova said following her talks with her Azerbaijani counterpart Fikrat Mammadov on Tuesday.

Petrikova added that she and Mammadov brought each other up to date on the way that justice matters work in their two countries. "We discussed disciplinary proceedings against judges, delays in court proceedings," she said, adding that issues concerning the selection and education of judges were also addressed.

Mammadov told TASR that Azerbaijan is also grappling with delays in court proceedings, which the country is tackling not only by making judges produce better work but also by increasing their number.
