Bratislava, February 22 (TASR) - Bratislava's M.R. Stefanik Airport (BTS) handled 91,321 passengers in January 2010, a reduction of 10 percent year-on-year, BTS spokesperson Dana Madunicka told TASR on Monday.
Lower figures were recorded for both international and domestic air transport. When it comes to domestic services this is in line with a long-term trend at the airport, despite an increase in the number of destinations from Bratislava and a rising number of flights.
Conversely, the amount of freight transported went up from 651 tonnes in January 2009 to 1,085 tonnes in January 2010, which constitutes a 67-percent increase.
No-frills airline Ryanair remains the airport's number one carrier, transporting 71,552 passengers in January 2010, followed by VIP Wings, which includes Danube Wings, with 5,064 passengers, and Air Slovakia with 4,979 passengers.
