Bratislava, February 21 (TASR) - German and Austrian businesses active in Slovakia will increase their investment activities mainly in the automotive and energy industries, plus in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, according to an analysis released by a multinational law firm called bnt specialising in business law in Central and Eastern Europe.
"Investments from German and Austrian companies are on the rise. We are seeing an increasing number of new medium-sized companies, which may spell a gradual arrival of major investors from different sectors," said Zuzana Chudackova, a lawyer with bnt.
Once-endangered companies, especially in the automotive industry, have enhanced their efficiency and thus avoided potential demise. These firms are now proceeding with their pre-crisis investment plans.
Promising signs are seen in small companies which as recently as a year ago were facing bankruptcy. Things are improving most evidently in the automotive industry, pharmacy, health and energy.
Many German and Austrian firms which during the worst of the crisis succeeded in preventing mass redundancies or cancellation of investments are now hiring new employees and expanding their investments. Companies are mainly keen on investing in the field of renewable resources such as biomass and alternative energy.
