Bratislava, February 19 (TASR) - The Union of Slovak Hauliers (UNAS), an avowed critic of the toll charges instituted this year on selected highways for lorries weighing more than 3.5 tonnes, has complained to the Transport Ministry that one of the latter's charges - the National Highway Company (NDS) - has leaked data belonging to unnamed toll-payers.
"We possess evidence that the data abuse occurred on January 27, 2010, when members of Parliament, including Smer-SD lawmaker Peter Pelegrini, who were conducting an inspection at NDS, obtained information about an unnamed toll-paying company; and he, as we have learnt from the media, made this public," said UNAS chairman Jaroslav Polacek.
UNAS wants an investigation into who provided the data to Pelegrini and according to what rights. It asked Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny to call those responsible to account and to prevent NDS from breaking the law in this way again.
The ministry via its spokesman Stansilav Jurikovic said that it would examine this complaint, as has been the case with all others in the past.
