Bratislava, February 18 (TASR) - During his meeting with Czech Minister of EU Affairs Juraj Chmiel on Thursday, Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak has declared his support for any projects that reflect the above-standard relations of both countries.
"We're happy to see all the activities that are joining the two nations in the sphere of culture - whether it's a song contest or joint TV broadcasts," said Lajcak after the meeting, adding that he and his colleague also expressed their support for any initiatives focused on natural bonding of students from both countries.
The ministers also discussed a range of EU-related issues, such as the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty, energy security, and the existing Danube Strategy.
Chmiel informed Lajcak about Czech interest in domiciling a bureau that would supervise the performance of the EU satellite navigation system Galileo. Lajcak in turn promised that Slovakia would vote in support of the Czech candidacy in this matter.
During the discussion the two officials also touched on the issue of the visa regime that Canada re-launched for Czech citizens last year. They concurred that EU solidarity is called for in this area.
