Man Who Was Planted Explosives by Police to Be Compensated Soon

Bratislava, February 17 (TASR) - Interior Minister Robert Kalinak said after the Government session in Holic (Trnava region) on Wednesday that he expects his ministry to soon reach an agreement on financial compensation with the Slovak that in January boarded a plane with explosives planted to his luggage by the police as part of a botched security test.

Kalinak declined to specify the date when the agreement should be made, however – or the amount. He did say, however, that both sides will be content. When asked by a journalist as to whether Slovakia will see another millionaire following the deal, Kalinak said that it isn't necessary to exaggerate.

Stefan Gonda from Poprad (Presov region) who carried the explosives to Dublin said in late January that he doesn't wish the Interior Ministry to publish the amount of the compensation. The 49-year-old man was arrested in Ireland two days after landing, and subsequently released without charge.
