Economy Ministry Outlines Priorities for Near Future

Bratislava, February 15 (TASR) - The Economy Ministry has neglected nothing contained in the Cabinet's manifesto, Minister Lubomir Jahnatek said after Prime Minister Robert Fico declared himself satisfied with the ministry's performance following his inspection of the ministry earlier on Monday.

In keeping with Fico's statement, Jahnatek said "there are two important energy-related goals we have to address in the near future: namely the implementation of a strategy for energy security, and energy efficiency. Without energy efficiency we will fail to meet the energy-industry goals," he said.

Addressing business sector issues, Jahnatek said the ministry would seek to cut the paperwork burden entrepreneurs face by 25 percent in order to improve the business environment. The objective, he said, is to focus on securing new financial resources for cash-strapped small and medium-sized businesses during the ongoing global financial and economic crisis.
