Prime Minister Fico Congratulates "Golden" Kuzmina In a Letter

Bratislava, February 14 (TASR) - Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Sunday sent a congratulatory letter to Slovak representative of Russian origin Anastasia Kuzmina, who won the gold medal in the women's biathlon 7.5-km sprint at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics on Saturday afternoon local time, Government Office Press Department informed TASR.
In his letter, Fico congratulated Kuzmina to he victory and he stated that he highly regards her success. "I appreciate it even more that with this success you are proudly associating with your new homeland. I am very happy that Slovakia has become your new home, where you have not only found personal happiness and contentment, but also excellent conditions for your further athletic development. It is amazing with what ardour you are representing our country, how proudly you are associating with it, and how much you are giving back to it with your athletic performance."
The Premier expressed his hopes that Kuzimina's victory, which means "the gain of the first gold medal at a Winter Olympics games for Slovakia", will be "amazing encouragement for our athletes competing in Vancouver".
At the end of the letter, Fico thanked Kuzmina for "excellent representation of Slovakia", and he stated he will keep his fingers crossed for her, so that "yesterday's medal won't be the only one she will bring home from Canada".
