KDH Slams Government's Social Policies

Bratislava, February 12 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) on Thursday slammed the social policies of Robert Fico's Government as ineffective, uneconomical and serving only the chosen few after a parliamentary session was wrapped up on Friday.

KDH chairman Jan Figel attached the above epithets to the Labour Ministry's social enterprises project, which is aimed at cutting the country's long-term joblessness. Inspections by the EU and Finance Ministry have so far resulted in the termination of two out of eight EU-funded enterprises.

The party's vice-chairman Julius Brocka complained that his legislative proposal to amend social-insurance legislation with regard to university graduates, who, according to him, have been ignored in the last six years, was voted down.

"I proposed that employers of such workers should be exempt from paying social insurance for them for 12 months. This would make them one-third cheaper on the labour market than other job applicants," he said.
