Bratislava, February 12 (TASR) - Switzerland is an inspiration for Slovakia, mainly from the point of view of its prosperity, as well as the country's perseverance in terms of social relations and growth," said Slovak Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska on the sidelines of a Swiss-Slovak symposium on Friday.
According to Paska, bilateral relations are "good in the long term". "Switzerland truly is, and always has been, an inspiration for us, a political one as well," he said. After the political change in 1989, Switzerland was "some sort of symbol, some sort of aim", mainly due to the highly-developed structure of its social network and its ability to provide a very high quality of life for "absolutely broad classes of people".
Paska noted that Slovakia can't "hanker after" such mega-pillars of the Swiss economy as the banking sector, for example. Switzerland is well-known for its extraordinary road infrastructure - its motorways, tunnels and train network. "These are all things that we would love to see in Slovakia. We hope to achieve this in the years ahead," he stated.
