Average Monthly Salary in December Rose Most Y-o-Y in Industry - by 4.9 %

Bratislava, February 10 (TASR) - Average nominal monthly salaries in December 2009 rose fastest year-on-year in industry - by 4.9 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.
Average nominal monthly salaries also increased in accommodation - by 1.7 percent year-on-year, in restaurants and pubs - by 1.5 percent, and in retail - by 1.1 percent y-o-y.
Conversely, average nominal monthly salaries fell y-o-y in selected market services - by 5.5 percent, in transport and storage - 4.5 percent, in construction - 2.7 percent, in wholesale - 2.4 percent, in information and communications - 2.1 percent, and in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - 1.7 percent,
Compared to December 2008, real salaries rose in industry - by 4.4 percent, in accommodation - 1.2 percent, in restaurants and pubs - 1 percent, and in retail - 0.6 percent.
Real salaries fell on an annual basis in selected market services - by 6 percent, in transport and storage - 5 percent, in construction - 3.2 percent, in wholesale - 2.9 percent, in information and communications - 2.6 percent, and in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - 2.2 percent,
In 2009 as a whole, meanwhile, the average nominal monthly salary for employees working in information and communications reached €1,541.91 per month. Other average monthly salaries for the period were: in industry - €751.27, in selected market services - €736.85, and in wholesale - €707.79 per month. The lowest average nominal monthly salary in 2009 was paid in restaurants and pubs - €341.16.
