KDH Miffed at Seeing All Proposals Rubbished in Parliament

Bratislava, February 10 (TASR) - Opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) acted indignant in Parliament after having had all of its "publicly beneficial" proposals voted down earlier on Wednesday.

The legislative bills included proposals to diminish lawmakers' immunity, prevent mega-casinos such as that planned on by the ruling coalition in Jarovce area of Bratislava from coming here and enjoying degressive – the more profit the lower the tax rate – tax or securing protection from discrimination during hiring and others.

Deputy chairman Daniel Lipsic, who saw his immunity-lowering bill rejected, said he would have supported even the bill to that effect submitted by Smer-SD Renata Zmajkovicova if she had not withdrawn it from debate.

After having his bill to favour the mega-casino rejected Lipsic said that employment in such enterprises is linked to organised crime.

KDH chair Jan Figel accused the coalition of pretending to act in favour of citizens but failing to deliver when called up on it. "Each week we hear the coalition saying how they care about people ... Hours earlier we witnessed it's just talk. Ruling coalition MPs have nixed multiple proposals which were to the benefit of citizens," he said.
