Paska Meets Turkish Ambassador, Praises Bilateral Relations

Bratislava, February 10 (TASR) - Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska on Wednesday met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey in Slovakia Tunc Ugdul and praised his personal contribution to all-round development of Slovak-Turkish relations, Paska's spokesman Jozef Plsko told TASR on the same day.

The Turkish ambassador spoke in glowing terms of several events that took place in the past years and have contributed to improvement of mutual relations between Slovakia and Turkey. Those high-profile events include a visit of Premier Robert Fico in Ankara in October 2009, during which the two countries' premiers signed a treaty on mutual support and protection of investments, and Turkey's President Abdullah Gul's visit in Bratislava a month later.

According to the Turkish Embassy, the volume of bilateral trade between Turkey and Slovakia has increased tenfold over the course of the last decade and has reached the €10-billion level.
