NDS: Janis's Doubts About Tests of Road-toll System Unfounded

Bratislava, February 9 (TASR) - The National Highway Company (NDS) disagrees with the claims made by SDKU-DS caucus leader Stanislav Janis that NDS found several flaws in the electronic road-toll system before the system was launched on January 1, NDS general director Igor Choma said at a press conference Tuesday evening.

"It must be noted that any doubts about the tests of the toll system that were presented by (Janis) are untrue," said Choma, adding that Janis should read carefully "all documents that have been provided".

Choma noted that in an MPs' inspection in January, NDS presented all documents on the tests that the parliamentarians had asked for. "We prepared 35 binders with documents on the tests. None of the MPs was interested in looking inside," said Choma.

He added that the tests were launched in September and were carried out in a regular way, in line with the contract with toll provider SkyToll.

Janis said at a press conference that the NDS listed several faults with the system that had been revealed in testing shortly before the system was launched. The test run of the system in December didn't materialise in line with the contract between NDS and the toll provider SkyToll, said Janis.

"NDS didn't release a document on successful conclusion of the preparations for (launching) the toll; rather, it was merely a conditional confirmation," said Janis.

According to the contract, however, NDS should have drawn up a protocol on a successful conclusion of the test run. It didn't happen, and the "conditional confirmation cites flaws and imperfections of the system, with the respective deadlines for correction being January 31 or June 30," said Janis.
