Kechnec-based Plant of Getrag Ford Transmissions Has New Chief

Bratislava, February 4 (TASR) - Getrag Ford Transmissions (GFT) on Thursday appointed Chris Hinton as the new director of its plant in the Kechnec industrial zone near Kosice, Karin Burgmer of GFT's communications department told TASR later in the day.

Hinton took over from Bernard Maury, who retired at the end of 2009. "Hinton's experience in manufacturing engineering, including holding top management posts in plants in China and Cologne (where GFT headquarters is located), will make a valuable contribution to the growing plant in Kechnec," according to GFT director Mihir Kotecha.

The €300-million, Kechnec-based plant, which manufactures twin-clutch and motorcycle gearboxes and employs 700 people, was opened in November 2007. In order to satisfy growing demand, the company is planning on boosting its annual production in 2010 to 122,000 twin-clutch gearboxes.

GFT Slovakia is a 100-percent subsidiary of Germany's GFT, which, in turn, is a joint venture between Ford Europe and Germany's Getrag. Based in Cologne, GFT has manufacturing plants in Germany, France, the UK and Slovakia.
