Bratislava, February 4 (TASR) - The Government is doing everything it can to ensure a systematic flow of eurofunds from Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Dusan Caplovic said during Question Hour in Parliament on Thursday.
Caplovic was responding to a question by opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) MP Martin Fronc, who wanted to know what will the Government do to avoid a stoppage of the money flow that was recently indicated by the European Commission due to Slovakia's failure to meet certain criteria in the environmental sphere, complaining mostly about lack of public participation.
"I asked the ministers of environment (Jozef Medved), transport, posts and telecommunications (Lubomir Vazny), economy (Lubomir Jahnatek) and construction and regional development (Igor Stefanov) to quickly adopt measures to achieve compliance with the relevant directives of the EU as soon as possible. I also notified the ministers of finance (Jan Pociatek), health (Richard Rasi) and education (Jan Mikolaj), as they participate in drawing the EU structural funds," said Caplovic.
The deputy premier added that he will meet DG Regio (European Commission's Regional Policy department) general director Dirk Ahner next Thursday and will inform him about specific steps being taken by the Government. In addition, he will contact the new EU commissioner for regional policy Johannes Hahn next week.
Caplovic reported that the Cabinet is to hold a special session on Friday during which it will adopt amendments to the Act on Protection of Nature, Act on Industrial Parks, the Mining Act, Energy Act and Construction Act. All those bills are expected to be approved soon by Parliament in fast-track proceedings, added Caplovic.
