Bratislava, February 4 (TASR) - Opportunities for intensification of the trade and economic co-operation, Iran's nuclear programme and human rights featured among the topics discussed by Slovakia's Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak and China's Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun in Bratislava on Thursday, Slovak ministry spokesman Peter Stano told TASR.
Lajcak described the meeting as continuation of the friendly dialogue between the two countries, which has no open issues. Bratislava and Beijing have therefore great interest in deepening mutual political contacts. "(Apart from this) there is a great scope for development mainly in the economic and entrepreneurial sphere," said Lajcak.
The Slovak minister told the Chinese guest that Slovakia respects China's role as one of the crucial players in the international politics. In an open dialogue, the two representatives also exchanged opinions on the visit of the Tibetan Dalai Lama in Slovakia last year, said Stano.
Lajcak explained the principles of Slovakia's value orientation and the general concord of Slovakia's foreign policy with stances of the European Union.
Speaking about the Iranian nuclear programme, the two politicians agreed that the goal of the international community is to prevent nuclear proliferation in the region.
