Bratislava, February 4 (TASR) - LS-HZDS MP Katarina Tothova has proposed the establishment of so-called mobile courts to deal with vandalism cases at sport venues, with Parliament passing her proposal to second reading on Thursday.
Via this Penal Code amendment, Tothova aims to prosecute vandals and individuals who behave inappropriately at sporting events right on the spot.
"There's a need to ensure that decent people, decent fans, can come on down to stadiums and enjoy their matches in peace. That's why we want to introduce a fast-tracked investigation and legal action processes on the spot, if appropriate (in individual cases)," said Tothova. She added that mobile courts should resolve misdemeanours committed by "rascals at stadiums".
Tothova has been inspired by the Czech Republic, where such a project is in effect. "We had such a provision at our (in the Czechoslovak federation) previous Penal Code; unfortunately, it was ruled out by the former government (led by Mikulas Dzurinda). Hence, we want to bring it back again," said Tothova.
