Bratislava, February 4 (TASR) - Medical workers and people at risk are underestimating the danger of serious complications brought about by the influenza pandemic given the low numbers of people at risk who have received inoculation against the virus, the Public Health Office (UVZ) said on Thursday.
Inoculation by Panenza vaccine, which Slovakia purchased from French pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur, is the optimal and most effective prevention against the pandemic flu, Slovakia's chief public health officer Ivan Rovny said on Thursday.
In light of the above, Rovny went on to specifically call on people at risk to get vaccinated – pregnant women (all trimesters), adults with serious chronic diseases who face possible serious complications or death if infected by the virus, as well as individuals of the utmost importance for the country's economic life.
As well, he urged parents to have children over six months with pre-existing conditions who could face serious complications from a possible flu virus infection to be inoculated.
