Miklos: Transport Minister Vazny Lied, He Behaves Like SkyToll Shareholder

Bratislava, February 3 (TASR) – According to opposition SDKU-DS, Slovak Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny lied in his statements Wednesday concerning the electronic road-toll system.

"Mr. Minister evidently lied in two specific claims. I can prove it," said SDKU-DS vice-chair Ivan Miklos at a press conference in Bratislava on Wednesday. According to him, with their lies and actions, Vazny along with Prime Minister Robert Fico have proven that they are not acting in the public interest.

"They behave as if they were SkyToll's shareholders and not public authorities, and that is what is the gravest and most striking aspect of it all. The overpriced tender is a clear evidence of that," said Miklos.

Vazny claimed at a press conference earlier on Wednesday that he was not able to cancel the contract with the electronic road-toll provider SkyToll. "It's a lie, because one of the contract's clauses was that if the approved price should be higher as the one assumed by the Government, then this could have already been a reason for Vazny to cancel the contract," explained Miklos.

Miklos said another lie which can be proved is Vazny's claim that he was not able to ask for any details after the bids for the road-toll system tender were submitted. In fact, the National Highway Company (NDS) asked one of the tender bidders 16 questions after the bid had been submitted. The untruth of Vazny's claims can also be proven by the still only partially-disclosed contract between SkyToll and NDS. "He (Vazny) lied in these two cases, at least. I think that he did it in many more, but in these two it is very easily proven," concluded the SDKU-DS vice chair, who is running as the party's election leader on February 27.
