Bratislava, February 3 (TASR) - Through his decision not to run in the upcoming parliamentary election, SDKU-DS chairman Mikulas Dzurinda has demonstrated that he isn't power hungry, party vice-chair Ivan Miklos said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"The decision deserves understanding and respect. He demonstrated that the claims that he's somehow mad for power have been myths," said Miklos.
The former finance minister, who has announced that he will run for the post of SDKU election leader (with another SDKU vice-chair Iveta Radicova expected to be his toughest opponent - ed. note), said that he is convinced of his prospects of success in the primary election on February 27. "I've got signals about the real support for me," said Miklos.
Regardless of the result of the primary election, Miklos said that he will do what he can to end the rule of Robert Fico (Smer-SD), Vladimir Meciar (LS-HZDS) and Jan Slota (Slovak National Party/SNS).
A nomination (to the slate of candidates) convention of SDKU-DS, which is to take place on February 15, is to decide on the first 15 places on the list. The election leader and the final shape of the slate will be decided in the primary elections two weeks later.
