Bratislava, November 24 (TASR) - Entrepreneurs in the field of tourism believe that an act on tourism that is slated to be discussed by the Government at its session on Wednesday will help them overcome a crisis-spurred, 15-percent drop year-on-year in revenues over the first nine months of 2009, said head of the Economy Ministry's tourism section Gabriel Kuliffay on Tuesday.
"We believe that the legislation will have a positive effect on tourism," said Kuliffay at the 'Hospitality and Tourism Summit 2009' conference in Bratislava, which is co-organised by a company called INCOMA Slovakia and Slovakia's Trade and Tourism Union (ZOCR).
According to Kuliffay, approval of the legislation, which has been drafted by the Economy Ministry, would boost competitiveness in the sector and create better conditions for investment in accommodation facilities, for instance. "We'll have more Slovaks spending their holidays in Slovakia," he added.
The crisis has resulted in a fall in the number of foreign tourists coming to Slovakia and a subsequent drop in the revenues of accommodation and catering facilities.
