Salaries at Private Hospitals to Go Up

Bratislava, February 2 (TASR) - Employees working at private hospitals will see their salaries increased as of April, Association of Slovak Hospitals (ANS) President Marian Petko said Tuesday after sector tripartite (unions, management and government) negotiations at the Health Ministry in Bratislava.
This change is due to the state-run health insurer Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna (VsZP) willingness to increase its financial contributions to hospitals, provided that the resources will go to raising salaries.
After the tripartite negotiations, Health Minister Richard Rasi held talks with health trade unionists about salaries. To this end, the trade unionists asked the Ministry, VsZP's shareholder, to increase the figures in contracts for ANS-affiliated healthcare providers. Unlike employees at faculty hospitals that are directly state-owned, staff at ANS facilities had no salary raises last year.
