Bratislava, February 1 (TASR) - The second strike of hauliers against the electronic road-toll system has been stopped short in some cities on Monday, with lorry drivers withdrawing from roads on the very first day.
Ten lorries that blocked the right lane of two-laned first class road near South Riverbank in Kosice left after being called on by police. Protesting transporters have withdrawn also from a road connecting Topolcany with Nitra, and from Drietoma (Trencin region).
In Banska Bystrica, however, the hauliers refused to leave. The policemen offered them €60 fines if they withdrew from roads at once; otherwise, police said, they run the risk of being fined with €3,300 penalty. Despite this, more than 50 lorries have still remained in place.
Transporters have continued their protests in Kapusany (Presov regions) Presov and Trnava.
