Smer-SD to Seek Support for Debate of SDKU Murky Funding in Parliament

Bratislava, February 1 (TASR) - The strongest ruling party Smer-SD will seek support from its coalition partners LS-HZDS and SNS for its proposal to call a special parliamentary session to debate the SDKU-DS money laundering practices, Premier and Chairman of Smer-SD Robert Fico said after Smer's presidium proceedings late on Monday.

Fico said he had already agreed with his partners to finalise this issue at the Coalition Council discussions on Tuesday.

Fico described the SDKU-DS funding practices which he disclosed for the media as disgrace for all Slovakia and Dzurinda's decision not to stand in a parliamentary election as a theatrical gesture that resolves nothing, only proves SDKU-DS money-laundering practices.

"With this move SDKU-DS has shot itself in the foot and only exacerbated the problem. We will keep posing questions and producing more and more evidence," he said. Fico is confident the strongest opposition party called no one to account as it remains firmly controlled by Dzurinda and his people.

More lurid reports are surfacing in connection with this party. "It is highly likely that this, too, could be part of the special session debate," he said.
