Kosice, January 28 (TASR) - Turkish Ambassador to Slovakia Tunc Uđdul on Thursday handed credentials to Stefan Melnik, a new Turkish Honorary Consul based in Kosice.
According to Uđdul, the new Turkish honorary consulship in Slovakia will contribute towards building new spheres of co-operation between Turkey and Slovakia. "The outstanding relations between the two countries will be strengthened all the more," he said.
A businessman from Eastern Slovakia, Melnik has focused his activities on tourism, development and ecology. His honorary consulship will focus on Kosice and Presov regions.
"I'd like to focus on the development of economic relations and tourism at the regional level. It isn't only Turkey that has a lot to offer our people, it also works the other way round," said Melnik.
Another consulate was opened in Banska Bystrica earlier this month. The Turkish Embassy is located in Bratislava.
