Transport Ministry Blames Road-Carriers for Wrong Communication

Bratislava, January 27 (TASR) - The UNAS association of transport companies communicates only via media, Transport Ministry spokesman Stanislav Jurikovic said on Wednesday in response to the fact that UNAS goes on strike alert.

"Rather than setting up a date for a meeting with us, they have chosen to declare strike as of Monday. We know nothing about their additional requests. In fact, it's only from media that we learn about them," commented Jurikovic on the strike, set to start on February 1.

He also pointed out to the letter sent on January 22 to UNAS, in which the Ministry responded to the demands of the road-carriers, offering to set up a meeting for discussion. "We've received no reply. Now, we learn that the transports are going out on strike," said Jurikovic.

Meanwhile, Premier Robert Fico announced that a meeting regarding the electronic road-toll system will take place on Thursday at the Government Office, to be attended by CESMAD and Association of Cargo Transporters representatives, the National Highway Company (NDS) and road-toll system provider SkyToll.
