Bratislava, January 26 (TASR) - Bratislava's M.R. Stefanik Airport (BTS) will welcome a new airline - Polish company LOT Airlines, which will introduce a new route from Bratislava to Warsaw as of May 17, representatives of BTS and LOT announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Passengers will be able to travel to the Polish capital every day except Saturday, thereby gaining a good access to flights to Canada and the U.S. as well.
Last year was a complicated one for BTS, which lost two of its main carriers. Low-cost Slovak-based airline SkyEurope - BTS's second biggest client - declared bankruptcy in the autumn, with another Slovak airline Seagle Air following suit shortly after that.
Bratislava airport managed to hold on to its most important client - Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, which is now considering strengthening its position at BTS and extending its range of flights from Bratislava. Negotiations are currently in progress, with the results due to be announced within the next few weeks.
