Non-parlamentary Most-Hid and SaS Won't Team Up Ahead of Elections

Bratislava, January 26 (TASR) - Non-parliamentary parties Most-Hid and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) will definitely not form a coalition before this year's general election, said the chairmen of both parties Bela Bugar (Most-Hid) and Richard Sulik (SaS) after talks on Tuesday.
As reasons, Bugar and Sulik cited the results of a recent on-demand survey, which revealed that voters and supporters of SaS are in favour of the two parties promoting their agendas individually. "As many as 30 percent of our voters prefer us to go it alone," explained Sulik.
The two parties want to continue to co-operate, however.
Bugar said that Most-Hid plans to hold talks with another non-parliamentary party - OKS. These aren't meant to focus on creating a coalition, however. Several OKS candidates would be put on the Most-Hid slate instead, he said.
Sulik noted that his party will not initiate any talks with the strongest opposition party SDKU-DS, which offered a coalition to SaS recently. SaS responded at that time by insisting that SDKU chairman Mikulas Dzurinda shouldn't be the leader on the election slate, which SDKU rejected in principle.
According to the latest survey published by MVK agency on Monday, SaS would have gained 9.2 percent of the votes in a general election, while voter-support for Most-Hid would have stood at 6.4 percent.
