Bratislava, January 25 (TASR) - President Ivan Gasparovic named 12 judges with unlimited mandates on Monday.
Among the people who attended the swearing-in ceremony at Presidential Palace in Bratislava were those currently working at district courts all across Slovakia. Namely, Radoslav Balaz and Monika Dubjel (both Spisska Nová Ves), Martina Ivicicova (Levice), Alena Janculova (Cadca), Andrea Kriskova (Bratislava III), Juraj Kubasky (Malacky), Ivan Kubinyi (Nove Mesto nad Vahom), Zita Leimbergerova (Bratislava V), Zuzana Levkusova (Michalovce), Patricia Skotnicka, Katarina Skultetyova and Adela Uncovska (all three Bratislava I).
To all of the new judges, Gasparovic presented the official documents. "Today you've become part of the state power," he told them at the ceremony, noting that the state power in terms of justice has been facing criticism in Slovakia for a long time. "It's you who has to know if the criticism is justified, and it's you that has to do all you can to bring in judgements that are fair and responsible," he said.
The ceremony was also attended by Justice Minister Viera Petrikova and Supreme Court chairman Stefan Harabin.
