Bratislava, January 22 (TASR) - The Association of Slovak Entrepreneurs (ZPS) on Friday expressed full support for the country's truckers in their actions against the newly-introduced toll collection system, which they find crippling due to the massive cost increases imposed on the transport of goods.
Speaking after ZPS General Council, President Jan Oravec added they know from their own experience that the toll system is 20 times as costly as the previous sticker system.
ZPS also found Government measures intended to mitigate the effects of the toll wanting because the excise tax cut on diesel as of February is too low – leaving Slovak motor fuels still the most expensive in Central Europe. ZPS has doubts as to whether drivers will stop filling up their tanks abroad with cheaper fuel, as was suggested by Prime Minister Robert Fico on Thursday.
Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny has repeatedly said that the toll system is good, and that the 'teething troubles' are gradually being removed.
