Contract on Third Package of PPP Projects to be Closed by mid-February

Bratislava, January 21 (TASR) - Transportation Minister Lubomir Vazny is to sign a contract involving the third package of public-private partnership (PPP) projects of motorway construction. The deal will be closed by February 16, the Slovak Government decided on Thursday.
This package includes the following D1 motorway sections: Hricovske Podhradie-Lietavska Lucka, Lietavska Lucka-Visnove, Visnove-Dubna Skala (all Zilina region). The winner of the tender announced for this project is a consortium made up of Hochtief PPP Solutions GmbH, Alpine Bau GmbH, FCC Construcción S.A. and Western Carpathians Motorway Investors Company GmbH.
The conclusion of the project and the signing of a definitive contract has been postponed because the European Investment Bank (EIB) has requested further information and the submission of additional documents, Minister Vazny said in November 2009.
Only a public administration body (excluding higher territorial units/VUCs) is only allowed to sign a concession contract with Government consent if the value of the commission exceeds €3.32 million.
