Bratislava, January 21 (TASR) - Slovak Police on Thursday for the first time in history charged a person with terrorism, Slovak Police Corps President Jan Packa announced at a press conference in Bratislava on Thursday.
The alleged terrorist is described as a three-times prosecuted 30-year-old man from Spisske Vlachy (Kosice region) and named only as Stanislav C.
He is accused of manufacturing explosive components from readily available chemicals. Police say he was storing them in his garage in order to make bombs to use in churches.
Apart from terrorism, the man is also charged with carrying concealed weapon and possession of narcotics. It was during an investigation of the man's drug criminality that Police uncovered his plan to blow up churches.
According to Packa, he was planning to detonate the explosive remotely, having tested this procedure in the woods a couple of times already. The man is facing 20-25 years in prison.
